Poker is growing in great popularity all over the world. There are full tilt poker tours and associations in just about every country you can imagine. Satellite television can take the credit for bringing the game back to the forefront of the world. Televised events have created resurgences almost everywhere they have been shown. Poker has taken Europe by storm in just last decade and Asia is not far behind. It’s not unheard of for countries to boast millions of active players. The numbers are simply staggering.

From kitchen tables with close friends, to local bars and pubs, then on to the big casinos and tournament play there is always that something in the background. Sometimes it’s the chaotic noise of the casino itself, the slot machines and the table chatter. Other times it’s the dead silence that pervades the game. The soft sound of cards slowly passing over felt can be heard or the occasional chip rattling. More often than not though it’s some form of music. Now exactly what does one listen to when playing poker?

Well it goes without saying with the millions and millions of players out there from all walks of life and from so many different cultures and countries that that truly defies nailing down. Most actually many players find this a very important aspect of the game. Every player seems to have their favorite mix and have a CD or two compiled just for their poker playing enjoyment.

Consider this; the game of download full tilt poker is a game of both concentration and psychological elements. The players all have to keep their focus, an intent focus, while at the same time appear not to be focused at all. I don’t think there is a person alive that will argue the fact that it’s hard to do much of anything much less concentrate when there is a music we don’t care for booming in the background. Conversely when we have the opportunity to listen to what we enjoy our ability to concentrate improves dramatically. This all means the choice of CD going into the machine directly affects the outcome of the game before anyone picks up a single card. That makes it pretty important in the overall scheme of things.

There are number of companies out there marketing poker playing CD’s. Music compiled to listen to while poker is being played. While record companies have no problem marketing a CD to anything, up to and including watching paint dry if they find the market, the fact that they have marketed more than a few to poker players should stand as a testament to how important the music is to the players.

Does it give players a psychological edge? Can it take it away? There have been numerous psychological studies done not so much on music and the game of poker but on music and how it affects our concentration. While the psychologists may all argue about to what degree it affects it they all concur it affects our focus and concentration in a big way.
